“When women are treated unjustly and are deprived of their natural right… all social deficiencies and cultural illnesses will be unfolded, and in the end the whole community, men and women, will suffer. The solution to women’s issues can only be achieved in a free and democratic society in which human energy is liberated, the energy of both women and men together. Our civilization is called human civilization and is not attributed only to men or women.”

- Tawakkol Karman, Oslo, 10. December 2011

Samin Malik - In her Nobel peace Prize acceptance speech Tawakkol Karman – influential Yemeni revolutionary in the 2011 uprising – stressed the recognition of women’s rights as being human rights, and that when women are integrated into society they can help a country grow exponentially. Women play active roles in passing on cultural identities, educating young people and in encouraging adults to live by a certain set of values. Therefore, if more of them are equipped with the necessary tools to improve their emotional, physical and social states then they in turn will carry the improvements onto their families and greater community. In response to this need, Tomorrow’s Youth Organization (TYO) established The Women’s Group (TWG) in Fall 2011 to expand support efforts for mothers.

In addition to the Fitness and IT classes already in place, this nascent program offers seminars on, mental and physical health, parenting and children’s needs, education and literacy, and women’s empowerment. A comprehensive series of interactive seminars aims to promote dialogue on topics that are commonly overlooked in the community. The women are provided a safe space and platform to candidly discuss their thoughts and concerns, while learning about practical skills and resources/local organizations that are available to assist them in adopting habits that will help them yield a better quality of life. With its diverse line-up of speakers, educational and personal sessions, TWG educates, inspires, and empowers women to be leaders who can change their lives and the world.
