Assistant Art and Music Editor
(Volunteer) Aslan Media is seeking an Assistant Arts & Music Editor for AslanMedia.com 
Are you a journalist or journalism student who's passionate about art or music? Do you dream of becoming a film critic, a music reporter or a pop culture commentator? We are looking for passionate, engaged, and committed volunteers to join our editorial team. This position is available for the summer but can be extended to a more long term position. Position can work remotely and must have computer and internet access on their own. 

Responsibilities include: Work directly with the Arts & Music Editor to coordinate contributors and site content as needed; Help in identifying and contacting possible contributing writers; Provide administrative support to the editor; Maintain Aslan Media Arts and Music editorial calendars; Conduct research, fact checking and/or copy editing when needed; Provide input with regards to website and content organization and management; Coordinate with social media teams to publicize the section's content; Write for the section as needed and availability permits.

This is an excellent way for young journalists or students to experience the day-to-day duties of one of the web's fastest growing (and youth-driven) sites related exclusively to the Middle East and its Diaspora communities.
Hours are negotiable but would require a minimum of 10 hours a week.
At this time this position is volunteer with no compensation.

News Division Team
If reading up on the latest world events, watching the news all day long, and following the leading news outlets on social media is just another typical day for you, then Aslan Media's news team needs you! Duties would be simple: working with the News Contnt Manager to keep our online news content up to date, searching English and non-English sources (if you have language skills) daily for up to date news so we can keep our community updated.

Special Projects Assistants
Are you a good researcher? Can you take direction with initiative and manage tasks to meet deadlines? Are you a Foodie? Interested in the part food plays in Mideast culture? We are developing a project and need more hands on deck. Contact us today and let us know your interest in the Food project.

Development and Events Assistants
If you understand how to network across online and offline communities, and are a natural "connector" and social innovator, this could be the right position for you. You would work with our Development Coordinator to help with a variety of tasks which may include:

• identifying strategic partnerships that expand our brand awareness
• assisting in community development campaigning
• event planning and execution
• Grant writing
• Donor management

Book Club Team
Are you a book addict? Do you soak in all the latest titles, read blogs about books, or even write reviews yourself? Are you savvy and plugged into the world of online book lovers? Our Book Club is looking for new team members to help with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

• Working with the Book Club Coordinator to manage online book club activities, including discussion questions, and general engagement activities
• Writing book review
• Interviewing authors
• Working with the Social Media editors to expand the reach our book club activities

Multimedia Team
Can you conceptualize, execute, edit, and produce engaging and relevant visual pieces that tell stories powerfully, inspire, or even just make people laugh? Are you a wiz with multimedia programs and know all the latest tools on web-based platforms? We want you to help us build content! You will assist the Multimedia editor and contributors in creating engaging video content for Aslan Media, including scripting, filming, editing (one or all of these things), as per your skills and interest areas.

Public Relations and Marketing Team
Are you experienced and/or interested in Marketing and PR? We need interns to assist a variety of our divisions. From writing Press Releases to managing wider campaigns to push events, products, or content, we need self-starters who don’t need hand holding and can take direction, completing tasks on time and in a team environment. Social Media knowledge a plus.
